SUMMARY:6th International Symposium on Fatigue Design and Material Defects
DESCRIPTION:Surrounded by rivers, forests, and a strong engineering tradition, Trollhättan in western Sweden provides the setting for the 6th International Symposium on Fatigue Design and Material Defects (FDMD6) at University West. Building on the success of our previous symposia in Trondheim (2011), Paris (2014), Lecco (2017), Potsdam (2020), and Trento (2025), join us from June 19 to 21, 2028, in this vibrant center of research and innovation for an engaging and forward-looking exploration.\nMaterial defects, encompassing non-metallic inclusions, pores, micro-shrinkages, surface roughness, and beyond, remain central to our discussions. These features play a crucial role in the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks, with significant implications for structural integrity and component performance. The topic continues to gain momentum, particularly with the rapid development and industrial uptake of advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing. The growing need to understand and control defects in highly stressed and safety-critical applications ensures that this field remains at the forefront of scientific and engineering research.\nJoin leading researchers, engineers, and industry experts in Trollhättan for FDMD6, where scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation come together in a stimulating Nordic setting.\nThe symposium is organized by a local committee representing University West, Linköping University, and UTMIS.\n
